Xiaomi has been known for their budget smartphones with great specifications. Their budget ‘Redmi’ line takes the budget smartphones to a whole other level in terms of specs and quality. The Redmi Note 9S is no exception as it comes with a very complete package of features for an incredibly decent prise.
Design and display
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S is designed like most modern smartphones. Rounded edges, corners and bezels combined with a punch hole screen. The front facing camera is just a little hole in the top of the screen. You can choose from the colours blue, gray and white. On the back of the phone you will find 4 camera’s positioned in the middle of the upper half of the phone.
You’ll get a big 6.67” inch display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It’s an IPS LCD panel, which should reach up to 450 nits of brightness which is pretty bright for an IPS panel. Protection is handled well because of the use of Gorilla Glass 5.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S performance and battery life
Inside the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S you will find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G SoC paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, depending on your choice of storage size. You can choose between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage. With this setup you will get a great combination of overall performance and good battery life. Running games will be quite smooth and multitasking should be a breeze due to the RAM memory available.
As for battery life, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S comes with a big 5,020mAh battery. With a screen that big the phone will be power hungry, so a big battery will be a must. Luckily, a battery this big should easily get you through the day even with excessive use of the phone, and two days should also easily be in reach. Running low? No worries there, as the 22.5 watt charger should be able to fill that battery up again in no time!
With a total of 5 camera’s on the phone you really have some choice when it comes to snapping pictures. The main camera unit has 48 megapixels and a f/1.8 aperture. Next to that you’ll get an 8 megapixel ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 5 megapixel macro lens and a 2 megapixel depth sensing camera to use when shooting portraits. The front of the phone houses a 16 megapixel camera with a f/2.5 aperture which can also record slow motion video’s at 120 frames per second.
Al together this is quite an interesting camera setup which should be able to shoot nice pictures in almost every condition.
Conclusion: the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S is a great budget camera phone
When you need a big phone with a great set of camera’s but you don’t want to spend a big budget then this might be exactly the phone you’re looking for. It comes with a good set of features, great set of camera’s and a huge and beautiful screen. On top of that the phone is equipped with a big battery, more than enough storage and interesting options in terms of RAM choice.
