Xiaomi announced their newest version of the MIUI rom, based on Android 10, MIUI 12. They’ve given the UI a visual overhaul and incorporated some new interesting features. Dark mode has been improved and animation should be more fluent than before. Also, new live wallpapers and always-on display functionality should give the user some extra options when it comes to looks.
Another thing that has been greatly improved is the privacy management. It can now track behaviour of apps and will show the ones that seem to abuse their permissions. The new features will also improve protection of vital information on your phone.
Another thing changing in the new MIUI 12 is that Mi Health becomes standard which will track you activity and monitor your sleep if you put the phone under your pillow. Its said to use advanced AI technology for this, but its something that we have seen since the iPhone 3G so we’re curious to what extend they really are using these ‘advanced AI’ for tracking and monitoring your sleep.
MIUI 12 release date
The MIUI 12 beta is now open for Chinese users and the stable release for China is scheduled somewhere in June. The international release might then follow soon after, but there is no date mentioned yet.
