Design and display
The look of the smartphone was already revealed and it has a bit of a Samsung S10 vibe. With a metal frame and curved edges, we don’t see anything new in shape or colors being black, gray, white, and turquoise the only available for now. The surprise in the design comes with the camera location which consists basically of four cameras surrounded by a round flashlight and a horizontal disposition for this setting. I don’t think that is attractive at all, but I give them an ‘A+’ in effort for trying something different.
The screen is another thing. With a screen-to-body ratio nearly 100%, we see an impeccable display in a Samsung 1080P OLED 6.6 inches screen, which supports the 120Hz refresh rate and has a resolution of 2340 x 1080 Pixels, so, the transition should be pretty smooth when scrolling through the screens and playing games.
Performance and battery life
This smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with an X55 modem for dual-mode 5G and will run on an Android 9.0 Pie operating system. For the RAM we’ll get 8GB and 128GB or 256GB for the storage. That said, we can conclude that this processor in combination with the capacity of the RAM and ROM makes the Meizu 17 perfect to satisfy both gamers as well as daily users.
In terms of battery capacity, it will be packaged with a 4000mAh battery, allowing us to have at least 40 hours of battery life and will also support 40W wired fast charging and 25W wireless fast charging.
For the camera setting, we got a primary camera of 64MP with f/1.8 aperture + 12MP with f/1.9 aperture + 8MP ultra-wide camera + a 5MP macro camera for the back camera and a 20MP front camera; therefore, the combination of all of these components should result in clear photos with many details and vivid colors at any time of the day, and on top of that, with the new flash disposition around the camera, you could also get high definition photos at night with the rear camera.
Conclusion: Not bad at all.
We still need to wait and see the overall performance of this smartphone, but in general; all the specifications look pretty amazing. The resolution of the screen could be a bit better, and it’s a heavy phone (around 200grs); Besides, the price it’s not cheap at all (between $800 and $1000 bucks), but if everything turns out the way Meizu intended, buying the Meizu 17 will be worth every single dollar.
